Call for Papers

Call for proposals for papers to the Annual Journal Lod, “Diospolis – City of God” and lectures at the Lod Conference

Dear Fellow researchers,

Lod, “Diospolis – City of God” is a peer reviewed journal, recognized by the Council for Higher Education, printed in Hebrew and accompanied by an English online edition. Members of the editorial committee are Prof. Avi Sasson (Ashkelon Academic College), Dr. Assaf Seltzer (University of Haifa), Dr. Ido Koch (Tel Aviv University), Dr. Yotam Tepper (Israel Antiquities Authority), architect Giora Soler and Dr. Alon Shavit – the editor.

We are currently preparing for the production of the ninth volume of the Annual that is published in collaboration with the Council for the Preservation of Sites in Israel and the Central Region of the IAA. The Annual is a central platform for a wide range of articles dealing with the history and archeology of Lod and its surroundings, issues of preservation, art, religious heritage and the planning of the Old City of Lod. Many of the studies and articles presented in previous volumes have been prepared and published for the first time on this platform. Other articles provide updates to previous publications.
Once a year we hold a conference dedicated to the heritage of the city of Lod. The next conference is scheduled for May 11, 2023, as part of National Preservation Week. Most of the lectures at the conference are a presentation of the Annual papers by the authors. As is customary, we present the printed Annual on the day of the conference.

We hereby call on to you to submit suggestions for articles and lectures. Please note that proposed articles, which are accepted by the editorial board, must be submitted with all accompanying illustrations, in accordance with the board’s guidelines, by the end of December 2022.
Dear Colleagues, if you are familiar with Israeli or foreign researchers who are involved with the contents of the journal, please give us their details and we will contact them directly. Researchers can submit manuscripts in English and we will translate them into Hebrew.

This year we will award a scholarship of NIS 5,000 to a researcher whose publication is approved by us and who submits the manuscript on time. In addition, we will also consider assisting researchers by funding the preparation for the publication (payment to research assistants, drawings, graphics, etc.). The decision on the scope of assistance will be subject to the amount of requests we receive and the importance of the study.

Researchers interested in submitting an article are requested to submit their proposal by July 7, 2022, by e-mail to [email protected].
The proposal should include:
Title of the paper and lecture (not necessarily final version)
Brief description of the study and findings
Details of the request for financial assistance – if needed

Regards,
The Annual Editorial Board and the Production Team of the Conference
